Message from Stockport Borough Council:
Voting will take place on 2 May from 7am – 10pm, with each of Stockport’s 21 wards electing one of their three councillors. Locate your local polling station using our website to ensure you know where to cast your vote.
Remember, to vote at a polling station, you’ll need to present photo identification. If you don’t have photo ID, don’t worry; you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate through the Electoral Commission’s website here. You will need to apply by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April to receive your certificate in time.
Please note that you need to be registered to vote before you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. If you’re not already registered to vote, Tuesday 16 April is your final opportunity to register, so make sure to visit the Electoral Commission website here.
For those who are voting on behalf of someone else, the deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on 24 April, you can find out more information and apply online here. Finally, for postal votes, you’ll need to make sure that you apply by 5pm on Wednesday 17 April to get a postal vote for the 2 May 2024 elections, more information including how to apply for a postal vote can be found on the gov.uk website.
